Biopols is a new generation food packaging technology with antibacterial and antioxidant properties which reduces the food safety and shelf life concerns of meat producers and consumers. The product provides a high-tech, sustainable, low-cost, and safe solution to extend the shelf life, thanks to its all-natural and food-friendly content.
Biopols constructs its production line with a circular model. Developed by 3 chemists who continue their research at Middle East Technical University, this product aims to reduce the carbon footprint by reducing the waste of the meat industry and offering a greener alternative to current packaging materials. When the produced composite material makes surface contact with meat products, it releases the natural antibacterial and antioxidants in its content in a controlled manner. Thanks to this technology, bacterial accumulation on the surface of meat products is prevented and the pH balance and the smell of the product are preserved in their first day's properties.
